Description

The first day of March in 1954 was a holiday for many Finns. Coffee was the last food to be freed from the rationing that began during the Winter War. Numerous roasters were able to satisfy the cravings of the coffee-crazy people.

Fierce competition for market shares created an unprecedented supply of side dishes in Finland for a couple of years. The coffee manufacturers published dozens of different series of collectible pictures on their bean packages, which aimed for the mother's purse through the children.

The desire to get a new picture was so strong that expensive coffee was even poured into the waste bin to get a new package - and a new picture.

This book tells true stories about collecting coffee pictures from the mid-1950s and presents more than fifty collection pictures of coffee packets. At the same time, it becomes clear that the pre-phase of the craze was already seen at the end of the 1930s.
