The 11-part Aikamatka series follows the development of Finland and the world every ten years for 31 years from 1950 to 1980. During that time, Finland and the world changed more than ever in such a short time.

In 1950, two out of three Finns lived in rural municipalities, in 1980, 60 percent lived in urban areas. In 1950, not all Finnish homes had a radio, more prosperous homes played clay discs on a gramophone. In 1980, movies were watched at home via a VCR on a color television. In 1950, 150 chainsaws were in use in Finland, in 1980, woodlands were harvested with forestry machines.
